Q. Why am I doing this? Reason #1

A. Because I care about the breed and believe there are too many Brittany "puppy makers" vs. "RESPONSIBLE BREEDERS" in just about every corner of the US. If you do a Google search on "Brittany puppies" or "Brittany breeders", you'll find over 75,000 links. Add "California" to your search and you'll still get almost 20,000 links.

HOWEVER - there are less than 50 Brittany breeders I've found online, that I would recommend buying a puppy from. Heck - even if puppies were FREE, that doesn't change the facts. The majority of puppies for sale on the Internet are produced by people who offer very little information about the dogs in their breeding program, and ask very few questions of a prospective buyer, other than "How soon can you send a deposit?" (non-refundable of course), and "Do you live close enough to pick up your puppy, or would you like it shipped to you?".

In the 4-5 years since I created our Tru Brittanys web site, I've had over a thousand inquiries (phone and email) from people wanting information about Brittanys (or dogs in general); or wanting a Brittany puppy, started dog, or Rescue dog. Considering the fact that we personally have bred only three litters (and the first was not until 2000) resulting in a total of just 11 puppies, you may be wondering why would I bother to take the time to respond to each and every person who contacts us? (OK, once in a while something falls thru the cracks; I do have a full-time job, a husband, a house, a horse, and 4-8 dogs to take care of, too.)

Again - because I care about the breed. It's like the starfish on the beach story; I believe my actions can make a difference one person at a time, and one puppy at a time. Not every person follows my advice, or even listens to or reads what I have to say. But if you've read this far; you probably are open to new information and opinions. Me, too, so I hope you'll add your comments.

January is a busy month for puppy inquiries, so that's what I'll focus on for for now. And FYI . . . if all goes well, there should be another litter of Bernie puppies born in about 9 weeks. More about that - later.
